Pasha, Crash is one of my favourite films--I have a gigantic poster of it at home! Mostly, it does what your wonderful curated video does, which is yoke together two things that would seem to be in friction, but that illuminate some aspect of the other. The actors speak in a sort of stylized way--there is a mesmeric quality that I think makes the desire between the lovers much more intense for viewers. And how he managed to make aesthetically viable what would normally be repulsive (and many people hate this film because they are horrified by injury) is a mystery. It's Jason Molina-good--I think it's melancholy too...

Thanks, Nyla, for the kind words. I think I need to watch Crash again. I only remember being bored. Is it good? (Like Jason Molina good?)

Thank you, especially for saying the part about “some things are better left unexplained and instead, felt”. That is something I’ve meant to say in many of these essays and somehow my impulse to write too much has usually gotten the better of me. This is so good and car races are something I normally have no interest in.

Beautiful--my favourite curated video so far. The rush of vulnerability, a metaphor for love.

And it reminds me of David Cronenberg's Crash, if you want to take out the longing and substitute with sexual interest.

Thanks for introducing me to the music of Jason Molina.
