Promotional Trailer for Ryeberg Live Toronto (June, 2010)
Tuesday, 1 June, 2010, the day Ryeberg made its first appearance in the non-cyber world. 125 people came out to the Drake Underground in Toronto to enjoy live curated videos by Russell Smith, Sheila Heti, Mike Hoolboom, Jon Davies & Sholem Krishtalka.
Here are a few pictures — taken by the very talented Lisa Kannakko — to give you an idea of how Ryeberg Live looked and felt.

Many thanks to everyone who came out and made it into such an extraordinary evening — the five Ryeberg curators most especially. Cheers to Carl Wilson at Zoilus for his pocketful of Ryeberg, Steve Fisher at The Torontoist’s Urban Planner, and OpenBook for the interview with Erik Rutherford. And lovely to find high praise for Ryeberg Live at Plan For a Miracle (“Explorations In Toronto Art”).

Wonderful! Wish I could be there!
Love the trailer. At 0.53 seconds, the girl who looks alluringly at the camera, black and white, just before ‘YouTube video they love’. What clip is that from?
That comes from the second clip in Mike Hoolboom’s curated video: “Guy Debord’s ‘Critique of Separation’”
Music on the trailer? It’s only been haunting me for days, can you let a girl know who/what it is?
“Laisse Tomber Les Filles” by April March (”Chick Habit”).
