A student of mine introduced me to the mind warping fractal concept. It's like the 'where did life begin' question..when you think about it too hard, it makes you nuts. You can't get there.

Really intelligent article, Micah. Really, really smart.

Yes, I have wondered that! And sometimes, I think of it kind of like if you are walking towards a wall. If you walk half the distance towards the wall, then walk half the remaining distance, then walk half the remaining distance, etc., etc., you never reach the wall. But us on the outside do see people die, so… there’s something fishy going on. As for your second point, not sure. I think the pain is part of that last moment and wouldn’t necessarily go away. There might be a different experience of the pain, however, once you were no longer in a panic state, if you were.

I wonder if you've wondered whether the last moment of life might feel so unique as to stretch into an eternity.

And also if that last moment might only commence beyond whatever pain/horror/dross existed a moment before, no longer entangled in the circumstances of death.

Thanks. I can’t remember what the movie was called. It was a documentary and an hour long. Just saw it randomly on the rental shelves. Maybe PBS?
